Catherine May Derecola

Catherine May (Wilhelm) Derecola, 69, wife of Joseph J. Derecola, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at First Health Hospice Care of Pinehurst in North Carolina.

She is a daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Miller) Wilhelm.

Cathy was born in Pottstown on September 21, 1950. After completing school she worked at Shop-Rite Supermarket for fifteen years. Later, Cathy went to Patriot Bank working as a bank teller and mortgage loan officer. She also worked in marketing for McCormick Chiropractic, 92 Kemp Rd, Pottstown and then for New Hanover Chiropractic, 1810 Swamp Pike Gilbertsville.

In 2007 Cathy relocated to Pinehurst, NC with her husband. While living in North Carolina, Cathy started a lucrative "animal sitting" business. She was able to exploit her true love for animals, particularly dogs and cats. She found her true "calling." Cathy was at peace and happiness among the animals until she became ill at the end of 2015. Her illness and later COVID kept her housebound until her passing in August 2020.

Along with her husband Joseph, Cathy is survived by two sons Michael Derecola (partner Tori Trovato) and Joseph M. Derecola. One granddaughter Collins June Derecola, a brother Robert J. Wilhelm Jr. and his wife Paulette (Walters) Wilhelm and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 8, 2021 at 11 A.M. at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Farmington Ave, Pottstown. Following the service all are invited to the Pottstown Elks, located on High St, Pottstown, for food, drinks and fellowship.
