Barry G. Landes

Barry G. Landes, age 87, of Boyertown, passed peacefully Sunday, July 21, 2024. Barry was born November 1, 1936, in Phoenixville, PA, where he spent his childhood with his parents Mari Baum and Alvin Landes and sisters, Adrienne Landes Kirk and the late Joan VanVuuren. Barry was a well known and loved business owner in the community and the cherished patriarch of his family.

Barry graduated from Phoenixville High School and furthered his education at Ursinus College, where he prepared to help run the family business. In his younger years, he also proudly served in the National Guard.

He and his beloved late wife, Margaret (Peggy) Landes raised one daughter, Lora (Larry) Venarchik. When Peggy passed in February of 2000, Barry decided to live with Lora and Larry in their home in Boyertown, where he would spend the rest of his days. This only seemed appropriate, as his family was the cornerstone of his life.

Barry was an avid lover of all things nature and wildlife. He enjoyed early morning fishing, late afternoon walks in the woods, and sitting on the porch taking in the beauty of the world around him. Barry also enjoyed and was quite skilled at archery. He was a member of the Frontier Archery Club, where he earned the title "Master Marksman." As a Master Marksman, Barry was a natural deer hunter, but approached the sport with a profound respect for the circle of life.

Despite Barry's respect for nature, he loved being around family and friends. He proudly made people laugh, loved an innocent practical joke and never turned down a hand of pinochle.

Barry's two greatest legacies, however, are Landes Brothers, the family business he co-owned, and his family to whom he fiercely dedicated his life and work. Barry selflessly worked to provide for his family, never asking for anything in return, except time. When he wasn't in nature, he was happiest supporting, watching and celebrating the accomplishments of his daughter, Lora and son-in-law, Larry, his 2 granddaughters, Jessica (Michael) Venarchik-Radcliffe and Christina (Christopher) Venarchik-Lucas and his five great-grandchildren: Jack, William, Kathryn, Brandt and Cole.
