Barbara A. Friel

Barbara A. Friel, 79, widow of William R. Friel, Sr. of Queen Street, Douglassville, PA and formerly of Pottstown, PA died, peacefully at home on Friday.November 25, 2011. Born in Pottstown, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (O'Neill) McCarthy. She was a member of St. Aloysius R.C.C. Beech & Hanover Streets, Pottstown, PA . She was a volunteer at Birthright of Pottstown. Barbara enjoyed, throughout her life, many family vacations, camping, going to the beach, family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are two sons William R. Friel, Jr. husband of Mary of Gilbertsville, PA and Timothy M. Friel companion of Diane of Exeter, PA . Also, four daughters Karen Friel-Naffah wife of Hiyel of Philadelphia, PA, Deborah A. Newman wife of Frank of Pottstown, PA , Maureen J. Scozzafava wife of Michael of Douglassville, PA and Barbara L. Krock wife of Todd of Pottstown, PA . Barbara is also survived by three brothers Charles J. McCarthy, Jr. of South Coventry Township, Lawrence McCarthy of Norristown, PA and David McCarthy of Daytona, FL and fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by a sister Mary Lou Crone. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Wednesday at 10 A.M. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 A.M. at Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street Pottstown, PA.
