There was dancing in Heaven when Andrew Krupiak, 91, of Douglassville was greeted by his beloved wife, Mary, on May 5, 2023, after a brief illness.
Andy was born on September 21st, 1931 , to Stephen and Mary (Lesiw) Krupiak. He lost his father at age 10 and as a child, he worked odd jobs and even on a farm to help support his widowed Mother and family. He said he graduated from the "school of hard knocks" instead of High School. At age 17, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict on the minesweeper, the USS Tercel touring the world. After an honorable discharge, Andy worked at Doehler's and then was a driver-salesman and an over the road driver for Mrs. Smith's Pie Company for over 40 years. He enjoyed seeing this great country on his many treks.
As a member of St. Aloysius RC Church, he was a man of great faith and would say, "We all need a little God in our lives"! In his younger days, he enjoyed bowling on various leagues, but his passion was for Golf. He was a member of Twin Ponds Golf Club and played 4 times a week in all-weather until he was 79 years young. He was also a fan of all the Philly sports teams and cheered them on (even though the Eagles lost the Super Bowl).
Andy was the loving husband of Mary (Kienle) Krupiak, who he met at the Polish Hop! They would have celebrated their 70th Anniversary on September 19th of this year. He and Mary loved to dance, and the Polka was their favorite. Mary affectionately called him "Freddie" because of his "Fred Astaire" dance moves and that nickname stuck for all his family and friends!
They lived on Queen Street in Pottstown for 43 years before moving to Douglassville in 2002 to be closer to family. They enjoyed hosting "Beef Stew" night for their family in their cozy ranch home. He always said, "What a great life we have."
Andy provided a home for his mother and cared for her until she was 90 years old. Again, he was asked to step up when Mary suffered 2 strokes and he became her caregiver. We want to thank him for taking excellent care of Mom for 6 years! He also took over the role from Mom of calling his children every day. He loved to hear what was going on in their lives and was happy to be a part. He will be greatly missed in our everyday routine and never forgotten!
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Andrea (Frank) Carman, Stephen (Barb) Krupiak, Michael (Mary) Krupiak and Christine (Joey) Orff. He was Dad-Dad to his grandchildren, Jennifer (Mitch) Wells, Jason (Kira) Carman, Stephen (Audrey) Krupiak, Bryanna (Jason) Rabut, Kyrie (Kyle) Rossi and Brittany (Scott) Mitz and great-grandchildren, Mitch, Remington, Colton, Harlowe, Kiera, Jaxon, Scarlett, and Aurora. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his parents, his brothers, Joseph, and David (Jane) Krupiak and sister, Alice (Jack) Rock and his great-grandson, "Little Frankie" Wells.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at St. Aloysius R.C. Church. Visitation will be from 10AM to 11AM in the Gathering Center with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. lnurnment will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery with Military Honors.
