Andrew Bolman

Dr. Andrew Bolman, 75, of Pottstown, PA passed away on Sunday March 30, 2014. Dr. Bolman was born in the countryside in Plebanka, Poland in 1938. He and his family were forced to flee across Europe as World War II displaced them, and they immigrated to the United States in 1949. He was granted US citizenship in 1957. Afted graduating from medical school at the University of Montreal with a specialty in psychiatry, Dr. Bolman was a resident physician at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. He then served two years in the US Army Medical Corps. at Valley Forge General Hospital in Phoenixville, PA and was honorably discharged with the rank of major in 1971. After his military service , Dr. Bolman established a private psychiatric practice in Pottstown in 1971, which he operated for over 42 years. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center from 1986 to 1996, and was the President of the Medical Staff at Progeessions of Lafayette Hill (formerly Eugenia Hospital) from 1986 to 1987. He also practiced psychiatry at other local facilities, including most recently Salisbury Behavioral Health in Pottstown and Alternatives Consulting Enterprises in Reading, PA. Dr. Bolman was a widiwer for 10 years after the passing of his wife Mary Ellen (Ference) Bolman and was predeceased by his son Andrew. He is survived by his daughter Jean Hansen and her husband, his sister Sophia Fritscher, and his grandson Jack Hansen. Friends wishing to pay their respects to Dr. Bolman are invited to visit the Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 High St. Pottstown, PA between 10 am and 12 pm on Saturday April 12, A Memorial Service will be conducted starting at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Animal Rescue League of Berks County or an animal shelter of their choice.
