Albert J Mooney

Albert J. "Jerry" Mooney, 85, of Hershey, PA passed away on July 25, 2017, at Frey Village in Middletown, PA, from complications of dementia. He was the husband of Joan E. Mooney (Tighe) married on November 5, 1955. Jerry was born in Providence, RI on July 8, 1932. Besides his wife, he leaves behind five children, Jerome B. Mooney of Fremont, NC, Lawrence D. Mooney, wife Linda, Geigertown, PA, Marie T. Velosky, husband Greg, Ashburn, VA, Joanne D. Miller, husband Jerry, Campbelltown, PA and Kathleen A. Mooney, State College, PA; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frederick Mooney (deceased), Richard Mooney, Francis Mooney and one sister Margaret Legler, husband Leo. He was the son of the late Lawrence H. & Odette Mooney (Desmarest). Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea. After his service he was a Machne Operator for the Reading Railroad and then Conrail for 31 years before retiring in 1992. He was Secretary/Treasurer of the local Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Employees for 12 years and belonged to NARVRE Unit 37, the Railroad Retirees Group, and to St. Aloysius Senior Citizens before moving to County Meadows, a retirement community in Hershey, PA. Jerry will always be fondly remembered for his wonderful laughter and dedication to his family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C., 223 Beech St., Pottstown, PA on Saturday July 29, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. A viewing will be held in the church's Gathering Center prior to the Mass from 12:30-1:30 P.M. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township.
